November kit - lashings of layouts - by Ruth

Hello everyone:)

Boy do I have a treat in store for the 12x12 layout lovers amongst you today. "Lashings of layers of loveliness on layouts!!" Try saying that quickly after a few Bucks Fizz's!!

Sticking with a wintery/christmas theme to go with the beautiful Christmas Magic papers from Fancy Pants, I have blinged up the Prima Felt Stem with a little glue and glitter......

Used an Acetate Overlay on top of the Roasting Chestnuts patterned paper to give it some depth and added some magic with a small snowflake stamp.

Fallen in love with journaling again thanks to the beautiful Journal Book that you can buy as an add on.

and made the worlds longest layout title using the tiniest but perfectly formed chipboard letters from Maya Road.

I bet by now you've made all your cards and even got them ready to send, haven't you?  hmmmm me neither!  Well, I think I've got enough of them made, but as for writing them and mailing them - not likely!

I thought that our minds are probably turning to gift wrapping by now, though so my project today is a cute little gift bag just right for making small sized presents stand out from the rest of the crowd under the tree on Christmas morning.

 

It all starts off looking a bit complicated so I've got lots of diagrams and photos which will hopefully mean you won't take one look and think "I've not got time for all that nonsense" before you give it a try.

Decoupage Canvas by Kaz

This week I have ventured back to the Decoupage Sheets and this time have used the Gardening pack. These are so versatile so I have used two images to decorate a canvas for a gift. As you get 3 sheets per pack you could also make a matching card and gift tag.

 

The canvas I have decorated is 5 x 5 inches which is an ideal size for a quick make. The fact that you don't have to stamp and colour in an image really speeds this up.

Christmas - Studio 490 style By Linda

Hi everyone ... me again :0) Did someone groan????

A couple of weeks ago I talked about meeting my idol Tim ... the man that can move mountains with his little toe and a brad!

So this week I thought I would tell you about my other obsession for all things Wendy Vecchi.

Wendy has her own distinct style ... I would describe it as vintage with a feminine touch ... her stamps are both beautiful and versatile and I get sooooo much inspiration by stalking her blog .... Doh! I mean watching!

So this week I thought I would make a hangy Christmas decoration thingy in the style of Wendy Vecchi and see if the great lady does it for you too!

Nov 09 kit - Altered Cards and acetate overlays - by Ruth

Hello Bubblies

Whilst I am trying my hardest to psych myself up to make some simple cards I can't help but getting side-tracked by things that are calling out to be altered.

I was inspired this week to alter a CD case.........They have been around for years but the recent  trend is to make them packed full of depth and texture.

To create the illusion of depth you need to be able to see into the case and what could be more perfect for that than this stunning glittered overlay from Fancy Pants

 

Simply decorate the cover and treat the insides like a miniature shadow box. 

I have also used up an old notebook....I tore out the insides and covered it to make this card.

On these dark gloomy nights I just can't help but play with candles........I have been making flowers from organza and on this card I added a couple of petals.

Nov 09 kit - Festive Twosome - by Kathy

Hi there

Here we are again, another Thursday slot and between the last one and this we've had a flying visit up to Northumberland so that my Aunt and Uncle could look after us and spoil us for a few days.  Hey, we all need a bit of that from time to time, don't we?


Before we left home I made a couple of cards to put on here this week, but being in a rush meant I didn't take any photos as I was doing them, however, they are  straightforward and use the sort of techniques you use pretty much all the time.  Anyway fab crafters like you won't worry about a few missing photos will you?

'Thanksgiving' paper bag mini album.... by Sarah

As I have recently been away to America and witnessed all the beautiful thanks giving decorations plus I really missed my family whilst I was away, I have decided to make a Thanks giving mini album to show how much i appreciate my family.

Also this week I want to reintroduce you to the good old brown paper bag. How many of you have bought these paper bags with the intention of making a mini album only to get them home and have no idea what to do with them. Well this week I want to show you a way to use up all those bags to make a really beautiful album.

Hanging Advent Calendar.

Some of you may be aware that my papercrafting mojo had a little holiday last week and that left me panicking about this week’s project for the Challenge Blog.

 

Thankfully, the sewing mojo kicked in at the eleventh hour, so I got the machine out and made an advent calendar. I took photos as I went along just in case anyone wants to have a go as it is quite simple (just don’t look too closely at the bottom, it’s a bit wonky)!

 

I think if you are able to sit down and get on with making it in one go, it should take a couple of hours, so you still have a few days to make one for yourself.

How Do I Love Thee? by Linda Elbourne

I don't know about you ... but I am a bit shocked by the fact that it is Monday again already! Where did the whole of last week go????

It is the anniversary of my first date with John on Friday ... 10 years ... I don't know where that went either! Anyways ... I have been really slack with family cards just lately ... popping in the supermarket and ... erm ... buying them ... I know! This week I decided to be really good and make one!

 

To be honest ... it was the papers in the August kit that made it such a pleasure. I know ... I am a bit behind the times ... most of you will be on December by now ... but I love these papers ... and I bet a few of you at least have an August kit lurking untouched ... or is it just me :0)

November kit - Christmas Pledge Bauble - by Ruth

Phew it's Friday already....the days are flying past so quickly.

My days are full and busy but I am not yet feeling too stressed about Christmas. I think that is because when I am working with the Bubbly Funk Christmas kits they put me in a happy mood.

So thats three months of Christmas kits and happy moods I have had the pleasure of  enjoying. Are your kits putting you in the happy Christmas mood?   We'd love to know.

This week I have made a bauble wall hanging for my house. I recently discovered these fabulous round canvases but you could also made it from thick cardboard.

There is a fabulous sheet in the kit that is full of these wonderful ATC sized sayings that are perfect for mounting onto card and using on  cards or projects. I chose this one..it's almost like a pledge....maybe I should keep it up all year round!!

Nov 09 kit - For a December Birthday - by Kathy

Helloooooo

Just to be awkward and as a bit of an experiment, I decided to make something that wasn't Christmas themed but still used the gorgeous "Christmas Magic" November kit.  

.....Oh, all right!.........

maybe it was partly something to do with these fab goodies being at the top of the crafting pile and I just couldn't face tidying up enough to find something else!

Besides, I thought the Prima flowers in the add-ons to the kit would make a lovely centrepiece for a birthday card design and as MiL's birthday is at the beginning of December it seemed a good challenge to use them along with the kit papers and other bits to make her card. 

Hopefully I can pull off a Birthday card using Christmas stash.... let's wait and see what you think

Decoupage Card Kits - New Home and Sympathy

Before this week, if you’d given me the choice of doing decoupage or sticking red hot pokers in my eyes, I’d have chosen the latter. So when Caroline asked if I fancied seeing what I could do with some decoupage sheets I nearly ran a mile. Ok maybe not ran, or a mile, but once I’d stopped screaming I decided to challenge myself.

 

Decoupage is one of those ‘marmite’ crafts I believe, but once I’d looked at just the images, I saw that they are lovely, soft watercolours. I think they are fab if you don’t feel confident enough to colour in stamped images.

 

None of us like to have to make sympathy cards and quite often we get stuck with what to do. This kit has everything planned for you and you get 3 sheets of each page. You can do the cards as they are or use them in any way you like.

 

I know there are a lot of people who love decoupage and I have discovered a respect for them as it is fiddly and time consuming and it does produce pretty cards. It’s still not my craft of choice, but I’d prefer to the pokers now!!

Blimey ... Where did the week go? How time flies!

I have been playing with Maya Road Chipboard this week and decided to make some little present charms with some of the fabulous key chain sets that they are so well known for.

If you are like me ... you have loads of crafty friends and I think this little tag / charm adds just a little something extra to any parcel ...

Have you noticed? I am trying desperately hard not to mention Christmas ... I am in denial ... too much to do and so little time!

Hi, my name is Patty and my Blog is Pattitudes.

My blog is really just an extension of what my interests are which include cookbooks and recipes, scrapbooking and cardmaking. I also use it as a tool to keep friends and family in MN and other states a way to keep up with me on a daily/weekly basis.

My interest in scrapbooking dates back to the mid 1990's.  I remember walking into an Archiver's store and being overwhelmed by all the interesting things I saw there.  About five years ago a friend of mine who sold Creative Memories products asked me to host a party.  After that I was hooked! 

I started many projects and finished just a few.  Because of work and commuting there were never hours in the day.  When we relocated to Northern Wisconsin for my husband's job, I had alot more time on my hands. 

I started making cards for the first time a year ago and found that I love it!  I took a part-time position at a local scrapbooking store and that gave me even more motivation.

I also enjoy discovering new ideas by reading blogs like Bubbly Scrumptious.

November kit - A little Christmas magic all year round - by Ruth

Hello friends...I'm back and I have seriously missed my paper crafting. Talk about withdrawals!!

 Fortunately I had this blog to admire on a daily basis whilst I was away, my DT colleagues have been making some stunning projects. Have you seen them all?

I am eternally grateful to the Postman who delivered the kit on a Sunday and answered my prayers........an excuse to not have to watch childrens TV all day!!

I have made a couple of altered Bingo Boards this week. They make super presents, especially once you add a little calendar to them. Perfect for that all year round cheer!!

This scrumptious kit contains these exquisite Prima flowers . You know me...weak at the knees again!! I also had a go at making some of my own with the ribbon in the kit and a few stamens......easy peasy and pennies to make.

Nov 09 kit - Christmas Pocket Book pt2 - by Kathy

Hi there

Today it's the second part of the Christmas Journal project I started last week.  If you remember I made the pockets that form the pages, and then put the book together all ready to decorate and then, hopefully to fill up with bits and pieces journalling the run up to Christmas here on Planet Kathy, lol Fingers crossed I can actually manage to do it, my track record for such journals is pretty dire.



Anyway, at least I have the book ready to go and I'm hoping that you might help me out here by joining in with this project - and maybe a little gentle coaxing by way of a "how are you getting on?" message every now and then!

 I've used the glorious "Christmas Magic" kit, which you can see HERE.
I love the colour scheme of subdued reds, green and turquoise-blues on the natural cream tones of the backgrounds, and of course Caroline has added in card, and fabulous embellishments to work beautifully with the papers.

Enough of the "waxing lyrical"! 

Today I'm showing how I've decorated the front cover of the album, and also the first page - which is the inside cover of the book.

Colour-in Card Kit - Teddies... by Kaz

 

This week I’ve been playing with some more of the colour-ins and discovered that you can use Copics on this card which pleased me more than you can imagine!!

I haven’t done any step by steps for colouring with Copics as I’m still very much a learner in that department, but what I can tell you to do is to start light, build up the shading and blend and blend again.

I’ve used the colour-ins to decorate a basic photo frame for a friend’s Christmas present and a couple of quick and easy cards. I got the frame in Ikea, but I have bought them from Wilkinsons before. They are usually around £1 for a 3 pack making them perfect for us alterers.

The Day I Met H!m.

Before I go any further ... I must say ... you did ask ... so when I go on and on and on about Tim ... the man that can cross mountains in his lunch hour while designing new products and preparing Chrissy tags for his blog ... Holtz ... you have only got yourselves to blame!

Where shall I start? The beginning seems like a good place!

I fell in love with Tim's Mona stamp ... back in the day ... when I was young and naive ... from there I discovered the book and the DVD ... at this point I just worshiped his crafting and never thought in a million sparkly bits that I would one day meet him!

Then a phone call ... Tim was appearing in London in a craft shop in a few day ... Could I make it? Duh! Yeah!

A holiday request ... two train rides and three tubes later there he was! I think he got a plane actually ... it was me that got the train :0). He sat down and made magic with buff tags and distress inks and blending tools and paint dabbers and stamps ... that is when the Ranger bug bit me ... I couldn't get the stuff in my basket quick enough and I have wondered from that day to this why they don't have trolleys in craft shops!

He was patient and gentle and handsome  and uber talented ... he demoed for about an hour and then invited questions ... I asked him to give me a cheeky grin for my camera and he said ... "Come around we can have a picture together"  *swoon*. 

I do recall telling him I loved him ... he studied the pieces of our art that we showed him ... he signed anything and everything we put in front of him ... he was kind and complimentary ... he sent this tag to my mate that compensated slightly for the rather blurred picture I took of him ... with her ... what? ... I said sorry ... my hands were shaking ... then he left ... and I have been grinning ever since! What a great bloke he is!

So c'mon you guys ... spill ... Who inspires you?

Design Team Call for Bubbly Scrumptious Challenges...

For the Bubbly Scrumptious Challenges Blog we are looking for a further two or three DT members.

Someone who can commit to producing a project each week to fit in with the challenge theme.  Challenges are every Sunday - with a bigger challenge first Sunday of the month where participants can win a prize.

Someone who is happy to work with their own stash and on occasion work with products sent to them from Bubbly Funk.  Most of the time it will be working on a project to a specific theme with your own stash, but there will be times when it would be nice to highlight certain products from the shop, which will be sent to you in advance.

You will need to promote Bubbly Scrumptious Challenges on your Blog and any Forum you visit.  We will send you a blinkie to add to your blog.

The DT position will initially be for a period of three months.

Nov 09 kit - Christmas Pocket Book - by Kathy

Today I've got the first part of a project using the wonderful new November Kit "Christmas Magic", based around the Fancy Pants Paper Collection of the same name.  This kit is just gorgeous, fab colours and designs and Caroline has of course added in lots of beautiful matching embellishments; ribbons, flowers, chipboard - it's all in there.

You can see the LO I created using the Papers HERE.  Living in the North East of Scotland means were are blessed, or cursed depending on how much you like the snow, lol,  with plenty of snow.  It makes for some lovely photo's to scrap though.

Showcasing Margaret Sherry Colour-Ins by Kaz

 

Over the next few weeks I shall be showing you some projects with some crafty stuff that has taken me so far out of my comfort zone that I need a map to get back in again!! Caroline asked me first and I accepted the challenge. I’ve started off with the easy bits this week. Well I’ve got to start gently.

 

So this week I’m showcasing the one set of Margaret Sherry colour-ins. These are actually gorgeous images that can be used for a selection of cards. They are also a bargain (which you know I love) as you get 3 sheets of images.  They are available in a little Celebrations Colour-in Kit HERE...

 

As they are sketches, they fit in very nicely with my love of doodling and you can what I’ve made with them HERE………….

A short while ago I got a lovely email from Caroline inviting me to be part of her design team... I had a long hard think ... for all of two seconds ... and said yes.

I shall be posting regular projects and things for you to look at every Monday ... so if you want anything in particular ... just shout ... 

First things first ... here is a little bit about me ...

My name is Linda Elbourne and I have been crafting since forever in one form or another. My passion for stamping took over about 5 years ago. I am a Ranger girl at heart and love nothing more than trying new things and getting inky and messy ... My style is eclectic ... if that is a style :0) and I will give anything a go at least once! I have been known to sky dive and abseil on occasion! I am extremely proud to have been asked to join the design team at Bubbly Funk and I can't wait to start playing with Caroline and the other Design team members.

October kit - Heavenly Paper - by Ruth

G'Day Bubblies

I'm sure you have worked it out by now that this one single piece of paper has been making my heart go Boom Boom ever since I first saw it on the internet......."oh my".....how lucky are we that Caroline has brought it to the masses in this kit (Oct Kit now sold out)!!

Sometimes it's difficult to work with a printed image on a piece of 12 x12 and it can seem a bit daunting but it doesn't have to be.

 Here are some on my handy hints:

Try not to just mount a photo into the centre of an image laden page or it will look like its floating.

 Sometimes just cutting the one line around an image will help and you can slip your matted photo in behind it.( Make sure you have a good clean blade in your craft knife and a glass chopping board and you can cut through anything!!)

This paper could be cut down to make a lovely wall hanging in the shape of a 6x12.

Or cut in half to make 2 cards each with half of the gate or one card with the whole gate?

......See I told you don't be afraid of it there are lots of wonderful things you could make, and whilst we're at it think of the titles......Gateway to my Heart, Waiting for Daddy with a photo of a child waiting at the gate......come on lets get creative!!

Easy Peasy Quickie Batch Christmas Cards

 It’s at this time of year that I start to panic about getting all the crafting done in time for Christmas. I’m sure I’m not alone in this. It’s the one time of year that you have to get off your backside and make contact with the people you have been promising to get in contact with during the year, so that you don’t lose touch. And that means you have a heap of cards to make.

 

So with this in mind, I am going to show you how to make simple, but stylish cards that will be done in a flash.

I have been playing with the Personal Impressions Templates this week. They are incredibly easy to use and oh such fun!! You get 10 in a pack for £6.95 and they are so well designed., even I made a card with them-shock horror!

The pretty K&CO rub-ons came in handy on this card.

I just had to make the sleigh template and used my old trick of placing a matchbox in the middle as a seat! Now Hubby will have no excuse to light those log fires at Christmas!

 I crackle painted a paper mache box and made some of Kathys torn flowers to poke into my little flowers. I had bought some bells for my sleigh but they were too big so I tied one onto the side of this box.

 
 Ding-a-ling-a-ling....it won't be long now........have you got your gift boxes and cards  made yet?

I get the feeling I am going to get many weeks of christmassy ideas from the Personal Impressions templates....I can feel a fairy made with a doiley coming on........

Oct 09 kit - Sparkle and Bloom- by Kathy

Hi there

Today I've got Christmas Sparkle and Birthday Blooms to share - and both use the same basic design and techniques so if you really can't be doing with making Christmas cards yet, you can have a go at the birthday version, and if you're all raring to go with your glitter primed for action, well, maybe you'll try out the Christmas model!
 


Both use all sorts of bits and pieces from the October kit, but need a few extras from you stash - even if you don't have exactly what I've used on my cards, you're bound to have something in your stash you can use to make these two so no excuses1

Halloween Card Kit - Card and Bookmark

This is the final project I’ve made using the Halloween Card Kit, so I thought I’d go back to the Halloween theme.

 

I’ve made a card and a matching bookmark using the spider stamp as inspiration. Now I’m not a spider fan, especially those of those with big bottoms and dark hairy legs, but I do happen to think this spider is a bit cute.

October kit - Snowflakes and butterflies - by Ruth

Good Morning........I have been totally inspired by all things fluttery this week!

 It seems to me that snowflakes and butterflies have alot in common, they both are extremely beautiful but only for a brief period of time. So it's a good thing that us canny crafters can capture their essence on paper !!

"Long live the snowflake"........it's my new campaign.......... whose in?

..... and just as the last of the flutterbys are dying off I have brought them back to life!!

Oct 09 kit - Joyful - by Kathy

Hello

This week I'm keeping it really simple and using just one of the templates from the October Kit to make three cards - they are all similar, but slightly different to each other - mainly because I'm utterly useless at making two things look the same - I suppose it's just a lack of discipline really lol



Anyway, along with the three Christmas cards I've made using the template this week I've also made the presentation box and tag for the card I made on here last week, so I've added that to this week's project page too.

Halloween Card Kit – Quick and simple card and gift tag.

 

Following on from last week’s Autumnal coloured card, I’ve made another one using the really striking colours of the Gothic paper. I think this has to be my favourite paper in the kit.

 

This week, I’ve made a card and a matching gift tag that use some of the foam flowers that are included. This really is another quick and simple project.

Oct 09 kit - In the Frame card - by Kathy

 

 Hello Again

Welcome to the Thursday edition of Bubbly Scrumptious, I hope you're going to like what I've got to share this week.

Over the last few weeks I've really been having a lot of fun with the Shabby Chic style - I just love the way you can use lots of different bits and pieces  and build up lots of layers until you're happy with what you've made.  The wonderful thing about this style is that I don't think you can go wrong. If something doesn't look right either put something else on top of it, or rip it off and stick other things there to conceal the rips in the paper etc!



I adore the way textures and materials combine and also how old and new items can all find a place.  The downside is that if you make a card in this style you're going to need to make or find a box to present it in - but, then again, a boxed card is always an "event" - so if you want to make something special for someone special, this could be just the thing.

Alternatively, use the same techniques to make a wall hanging or a canvas - or maybe fill a box frame instead. 
Actually that means you can keep it for yourself so that can't be bad either!



I've used the "Enchanted" October kit to make this card, which will be heading up to Northumberland in time for my favourite Aunt's birthday later this month
I really hope she likes it and I hope you do too.

Havesting Nature: Fruit Recipes

Today I have not got anything crafty for you as I have lots of deadlines for university. But I do have some recipes to share with you.

 

We are so lucky to be surrounded by countryside up here in the NE of Scotland which makes great pickings for wild fruit. At the moment our hedges are brimming with sloe berries and blackberries. And after a long day studying what could be better than a walk in the quarry behind the house (still in PJ’s, I have to add) to harvest the crop.

They are very easy and quick to make and can be a real family affair.

Halloween Card Kit – Easy Autumn Card and Matching Notebook

This week I’m showing that although it’s called a Halloween Kit, it doesn’t have to be used solely for that purpose.

 

I have made a bright and cheerful card with a matching notebook, which was made following Kathy’s instructions from here . Both have been decorated with easy to make grungepaper flowers.

 

It’s really very quick and simple which is just what we need for birthdays as we get stuck into our Christmas crafting.

So I have done just that!!
