Julys kit - Photobooth Photocube - by Ruth

Good Morning and how are you today?

Are you feeling Moody, Mysterious, Quiet or Pleased?....

.........The reason I ask is that today I am showing you how to make a photocube........I love the play on the words because it is also covered with the Darkroom Door Photobooth Ladies and they are such fun to play with!

    IMG_9361

You have got to giggle at the expressions on some of them!

    IMG_9356

I felt that each lady needed to be given an identity and the K&Co Verbena embossed stickers are perfect for a quick and easy way to inject some personality into these women.

A sprinkling of Petaloo paper flowers, Magic Mesh and Maya Road metal flowers is all you need...in fact I didn't use anything from my own supplies...well apart from a tiny feather but my Darkroom Door lady told me she needed it ...honest!

Once you have followed my instructions HERE simply place on your mantlepiece or on your desk at work and let everyone know what sort of mood you are in today!

And if you haven't already ordered your July kit from Bubbly Funk then your cube would probably be showing as "Moody" so go on order it and you'll soon be feeling "Spirited!!"

Have a wonderfully creative weekend........Love Ruth xxx

July 09 kit - Take a Note - by Kathy

    Introdetail3

    Hello

If you’re thinking about making end-of term Teacher’s Gifts, this little project might be just what you need.

I’m planning to make some of these and keep them ready to give as small extra gifts when You-Know-What comes along, or just to have in the house if I need a little present to give to someone before then.

The fab thing is, these start off as 9p notepads from Wilkinsons – I’m not sure you can get a better bargain that that!

Use scraps from your old kits, supplemented with bits and bobs from your stash and you’ll soon have a nice little collection of instant pressies.

    Introdetail1

I’ve started my own collection by using some of the lovely Verbena kit which has just gone on sale in the Bubbly Funk shop, click HERE to see the kit and the various bits and pieces that go with it.

You can see my super-quick notebook project HERE

    I hope you like it!

Boy Kit ~ Book of Firsts

This week I’ve made a little book by covering beermats and binding them together. Full credit for this book goes to Karen, our fortnightly Wednesday girl, who taught myself and the other forum members who went on the retreat how to make it. Thanks Karen.

I’ve used a BIA, but if you don’t have one (why not, they are fab?) you could punch holes in the pages and use book rings.

You can see how I made the book ~{here}~.

I’ll be showing my final project from the boy kit next Tuesday, so it’d be great to see you back then.

July Kit - Verbena ~ It's a flower thing! by Ruth

Hi De Hi.......Good Morning Campers......oops sorry wrong show!!

Good morning...yes it's Friday again and what a quickie this assignment has been.

Thanks to Caroline's fabulous new kit and its explosion of pattern and colour I have managed to make an easy layout using a HUGE photo that I took of Georgia when we went camping!

The green Bazzill Basics Alphabet and the complimentary purple shades provided courtesy of K&Company are perfect for this pretty picture.

    IMG_9176

A massive supply of elements like buttons, ribbons, paper and metal flowers in the accessories package ensure a perfect match every time.

    IMG_9177

At the bottom of the kit is a list of various things you can do with Magic Mesh so I took the hint and painted it to match my layout. Then I used some more of it in its natural bronze state for this muted altered art piece.

    IMG_9175

I just had to use the HUGE chipboard flower straight away......I debated about saving it for a layout but it cried out to be the centre of attention in an altered project.......as for the Darkroom Door photos I have been lusting after their products for some time now....so yes I am doing the "happy dance!!"

Junes kit - trio of layouts- by Ruth

    Field of Gold

    Golden Wonder Boy

Life isn't always Black and White.......

Can anyone spot the theme?......It wasn't deliberate just pure co-incidence.

However it has made me think about how descriptive a title should be...a few simple words can conjure an image or a feeling if they are carefully chosen. This can save you from having to do so much journaling. For example the Field of Gold Layout....yes it was a nice day and we took some photos...but it wasn't a special place or occassion and there are only so many times you can tell your daughter how beautiful you think she looks!  So I have concentrated on conjuring up a mood. The lyrics from Stings Field of Gold are written around the edge and there isn't a need to journal anything else apart from a brief mention of where and when the photo was taken.

    Jumble 016

To get the most out of your papers keep all cut out left overs and use them on another layout...you can see the spare bits from Golden Wonder Boy are used on Field of Gold.

    Jumble 015

I just adore this journaling tag from the Andrea Victoria accessories sheet and knew it would have to take centre court somewhere!

    Jumble 020

"Life isn't always Black & White sometimes it is Grey" looks complicated but really it is a very simple way of layering the patterned papers and you can't ever go wrong with Black and White. Just as you can't go wrong when you order a monthly kit from Bubbly Funk!!

Please click HERE to discover hidden secrets within these layouts and you could leave me a comment if you have the time:)

    Happy Friday ......love Ruth  xxx

June 09 kit - Card Presentation Wallet - by Kathy

    Andrea Victoria Presentation Wallet

Hello and Welcome to another Crafty Thursday!

I bet you think that my project this week looks like a cereal packet, don't you?

    Intro1

Well, you're right - it starts out life as just that - an empty cereal box.

This week I’m sharing the first part of a project which I’m hoping will be my first ready-to-wrap gift for what I can only call The “C” Word for now – you know which one I mean!

So, here we have a basic folding wallet which I can decorate, then fill with some cards and envelopes over the next couple of weeks here on BubScrump.

If you made one gift each month with your kit, you’d have a nice stack of gifts all ready to go by THAT  time – plus you could easily justify buying a kit every month too!

    Good idea, huh?

     Intro2

Well, that’s the plan anyway, and the Andrea Victoria kit is a lovely one to start it off with.  Just in case you’ve not bought yours yet, you can pop over to the Bubbly Funk shop and decide which bits you need by clicking HERE

You can find the full instructions on how to make the first stage of this gift HERE

    I hope you like it

In this first page kit you get:

    • 1x sheet American Crafts Cardstock - Bubblegum

This week I’ve taken a sheet of Tags and Labels and seen what I could do with them. I’ve made a bookmark and a card.

June kit - Sunshine Circle Layout- by Ruth

Good morning....and because most of us are British we have  fried in the recent sun, moaned about it being too hot and put the heating back on now that it has gone!!

Todays project brings back a little of that warmth to your life.........

Caroline has made an incredibly good match with the stunning gold Bazzil cardstock that is in Junes Kit. It is such a lovely colour that it reminded me of bright sunny days and the kind of yellow circle suns that children draw with crayons.

To conjour up a feeling of sunshine and sand I have made a circular layout of my sons first trip to Cleethorpes beach.

    IMG_9014

A small smattering of golden centred flowers to compliment these lovely Andrea Victoria papers and voila a little bit of sunshine to add to your collection of layouts.

    IMG_9016

All instructions to make this easy peasy layout can be found HERE.

ps: Have you ordered your kit yet?

You know you want to, so go on do it.......no not tomorrow........ today!!

June 09 kit - For a Special Birthday - by Kathy

     Intro2

    Hi there

Sorry I was MIA last Thursday – I was “up north” spending a few days holiday with my family, but I’m back this week and getting busy with the wonderful new June Kit

This month’s kit is filled with lovely papers and embellishments from the very stylish “Andrea Victoria” collection from My Mind’s Eye.

I thought these papers would be perfect for a special birthday card I need to make and the card is my take on what I think is called a “Joy Fold” card.

Daddy Dearest using the June Kit- by Ruth

Good morning and isn't it just glorious.....the golden sun is streaming into the house and I have just taken these photos in the front garden. Proof indeed that the weather is really here to stay for the weekend.

My June Kit arrived on Wednesday and I was delighted to once again see the quality of cardstock papers that My Minds Eye manufacture........I can't wait to get my hands on the Bubbly Funk chipboard leaf/flourish but thats another project!!

I have used some plain chipboard to make this book but you can recycle anything, all you need are some large letters to use as a template.

A few embellishments from the sheet......

    Pick Me Up!

Having one of those weeks I am! I had a great weekend away on a hen weekend over the bank holiday in a plush hotel, but now it's back to the mundane reality of every day life. The weather has turned gloomy (it's the end of May for Pete's sake!!), and I have exams this week which I feel less than prepared for. Eeeeek! So what's a girl to do to pick herself up?!

    Turn to chocolate of course!!!

    Chocolate%20face

Here are a few of my favourite tired and tested choco recipes sourced from the interwebby :)

    Angela Hartnett's Chocolate Brownies

Nigella Lawson's Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups (my fave!!!)

James Martin's Chocolate Cola Cake (a lil bit different this one, and yummy!)

Jamie Oliver's Dark Chocolate Mousse (grown up version of a family favourite - and easy peasy to make too!)

and of course......the five minute chocolate cake which I know we've had posted on here before.......but it's got me through some late night revision sessions this week!!

So, happy chocolate munching - if you have some other delicious choco recipes, please share them!

    Challenge Reminder ~ Jewellery...

Just a reminder about the current Challenge - make an item of Jewellery...

You can see full details and other challenge entries HERE...

A new challenge is on the horizon so please send us any pics of this current challenge asap - and a big thanks to those of you who have taken part....x

    This is my entry.

    Green necklace

I have a load of these big buttons in various colours and as I like big plain necklaces the idea of making this into a quick and easy simple necklace really appealed.  I made a black one earlier in the week, showing on the Fiskarette Blog, and so decided to do something similar with my green button.  You can expect to see more of these over the next weeks as I use up my pinks, cream, brown, orange and other colours I have.  I love them!  You will probably be sick of them by the time I have finished, haha.  But as you can see they are soooo easy to put together.

So if you fancy giving this challenge a go, then please comment with a link to your blog and we will put a pic of your entry onto this blog too.

    Thanks!

Mays Kit - My First Shoes - by Ruth

    Good morning all:)

Where has that week gone........?  Why is it that a weekend away can throw your sense of time off balance for the whole week!!    It was at 2am this morning that I realised I hadn't finished my post for today!! Fortunately I had finished my project in plenty of time though!! Phew!!

This ultra sweet shadow box is now a permanent home to my daughters first shoes. What a good job I kept them,  thanks to the wonderful world of papercrafting I now know what to do with them and that is NOT to keep them in a box in the attic collecting dust and spiders!

    Ruth-shoes

The Aged and Floral Madeline 12x12 sheet is dark and brooding and perfect to use as a plain backdrop to enhance the pale girly leather shoes.

Don't you just love my litttle hanging bunting!!   I bet you want some too......huh?

So if you are having a "Spring Clean"  this Bank Holiday weekend and you stumble across some hidden treasure in your attic then why not have a go and follow the instructions HERE to bag yourself a little box of nostalgia.

Pop-Up card - UK style! - by Kathy

    Grandma_pop_up intro1

    Hi there

Today's project is something some of the BF forum crafters had a go at at our mini cyber crop last weekend.  We followed a great little You Tube video to make an unusual and fun pop-up card.

I thought I'd share the link on here today and also add my own instructions for making a version equivalent to a 14cm square card.
I hope you'll have a go at making one of these great cards, they are a lot of fun and being 3D they give you loads of scope to let your creativity go wild!

Mays Kit - My Oh la la Wedding Layout - by Ruth

Hello Yipee it's Friday and that can only mean one thing......the weekend is around the corner....... and it's closer for some than others!!

As you read this I shall be jaunting up the motorway to North Yorkshire for our first ever family holiday!! We are staying at a beautiful picture postcard country cottage type place.........well actually we have booked a lonely caravan in a field next door whilst we peek into the windows of the said pretty cottages and admire the inglenook fire places!   I do hope it's not cold, wet and miserable, unfortunately my husband tells me the weather forecast isn't looking good:

And for those of you reclining in a luxury hotel, bathing in milk, using Egyptian cotton sheets and  regretting not taking your "entire" stash with you on retreat (you know who you are!!) Have a wonderful time at the Bubbly Funk retreat.........I am terribly jealous........but managing to contain myself with the thought of getting lots of new scrapbooking photos during our trip down memory lane.

Talking of memory lane these papers have such a timeless elegance to them. So much so that this is the first time I have been inspired to make a 12x12 layout of our wedding.

    Picture 143

My tutorial today is mainly on using die-cut shapes to create a template. To find out how versatile a few Bazzill Shapes can be click HERE.

.......and would the last person left please turn the lights out!!  lol! Ruth xxx

May 09 kit - "Sloppy Poppy & Swirl" Card - by Kathy

    Sloppy Poppy and Swirl Card

    Intro1

I rarely buy ready-made embellishments, even when they are made to match my favourite papers  somehow, very few of them seem to work for me.  But actually, lots of them are wonderful shapes and designs and provide not only a great base for adding to and making your own design elements, and altered to suit your own style so that they work more appropriately for your projects.

I’ve had great fun this month playing with the various embellishment packs in the May kit and I've been at it again for this week's project - plus, I've also found a way to make the "Sheer Bliss" embossed sheet  work better for the things I like to make.

    Intro2

So maybe if you've got some ready made bits and bobs lying unused and unloved in your stash, this week's project will get you looking at them in a new way!

    I hope you like it

To see the card I've made, and find out how to make it click HERE
That's where you'll find out who the winner of last week’s
    Prize Draw is too
Good luck to all who left a comment and are therefore in with a chance.....

    Get Sketchy!!

Hi all, it's Nat here! I hope you have all been enjoying the sunshine we've been blessed with over the last few days.

    _39277933_2brit_med_203_152

Well, Caroline has something exciting planned for me for the next few months, and I can let you in on the secret that I will be bringing lots of scrapbooking projects your way! I know so many of you are avid cardmakers, atc artists and altered item enthusiasts, so I would absolutely love to see your scrapbook pages too!

So, until I bring you my first of these special projects in a fortnight, I thought I'd share with you some great sketch sites to get your inspirational juices flowing. We can all get stuck for some inspiration from time to time, or have a few photos that we just can't seem to organise on the page, which is when sketches become invaluable. You can follow them to the T, or you can use them to kick start your scrapping; mixing elements from one or more sketches with your own creative ideas. Here are some good sites I've found along my way, simply click each section-title to view the site:

    Page Maps

By Becky Fleck - very possible the queen of sketches! Her sight is updated regularly and she has sketches for everything - 12x12, 8.5x11, 8x8, 6x6, 6x12, round pages, tags and cards. Phew! If that wasn't enough, Becky also has a section containing sketches she designs for Basic Grey, here. Honestly - there is a little inspiration here for everyone, whatever your style.

    Pencil Lines

Pencil Lines is a UK challenge blog that issues a new sketch challenge for you to play along with each Sunday. The blog has a design team, so as well as just being provided with a sketch, you'll get to see several interpretations in different styles to show how versatile a sketch can be.

    ScrapbooksEtc.

Sketches from this popular US magazine. The sketches are filed under easy to use categories. Anyone can browse the hundreds of sketches, but register (it's free) and you can also download them and print them off if you wish.

    Scrap Maps

An oldie, but a goodie. This website has not been updated in a few years, however it is a treasure trove of great sketches for the whole variety of sizes. The sketches are nice and clear and are ripe for adaptation!

    Cherie's Sketches

This is a blog I discovered very recently, and it regularly has some great page sketches which take into account current trends such as die-cut shaped papers and scalloped edges. There are also regular card sketches too.

    Stickers N Fun Scrapbook Sketches

There really are hundreds of sketches here for you to discover! The diagrams are very clear, and whilst there is something that will appeal to everyone, the base of the majority of the designs are quite geometric which really appeals to the "neat and orderly" scrapper within me! The sketch lists are updated regularly so you'll never run out of inspiration.

And as for my scraps when I finish a page, I like nothing better than to use them up to make some cards - well, waste not want not and all that! Here are a couple of my favorite card sketch sites in addition to those already mentioned above:

    CPS Sketches

A new card sketch each week! The DT's work is always inspirational, and the huge list of followers and participants also have a great showcase that is worth a look.

    2Sketches4u

Again, a new sketch every Monday to make creating cards a synch. Followers are welcome to link their creations back to the site, which provides endless inspiration for you and me!

So, there's a whole host of inspiration for you - so there's no excuse for you all to be rustling up some beautiful creations over the next fortnight :D

Happy crafting, and long may the sunshine continue!

    Wedding Adornment

    DSC09007 [1280x768]

It’s getting to ‘Wedding Season’ again and Caroline is putting together a gorgeous new Love and Marriage Kit just in time for my cousin Claire’s wedding! It will be available shortly and I can see it being very popular as there really is something for everyone in it.

This week I have been playing with the Maya Road Chipboard Love Keychain Set and have made a Wedding Adornment with it.

You can see how I made it ~[here]~

As I am off on the Bubblyfunk Retreat on Friday, I am making my excuses for next week’s posting. I won’t be able to come up with anything for next Tuesday and get sorted and have fun. However, I already have plans for the following week, so hopefully I’ll see you then.

May 09 kit - 5 pointed star by Di

Morning folks.  My life has been a bit busy this week with the arrival of a new furry friend into the household but I did manage to put together a simple but effective home decor project.

This star can be decorated as simply or as elaborately as you like.  You could cover it in photographs or even have different photos hanging from the prongs.  Why not add lace or buttons or choose a colour combination to match your living area.

They could look particularly good during the (dare I say it in May) festive season as well.

You can find all the details HERE

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you're enjoying all the fabulous projects here on Bubbly Scrumptious.

Don't forget, all the designers love to read you comments so why not pop back through the posts and leave some comment love, oh and don't forget Kathy's giveaway - you only have until this Wednesday to leave a comment and get your name put in the draw!!

    Whats your space like???

    Hello, Saturday girl here again!!!!

Ok, so how organised is your craft space???  I recently had some more shelves put up to house my evergrowing stash.....I really don't know where it all comes from hahahahaha!  I have places for my ribbons, chippie, beads etc and consider myself pretty lucky as I have a friend who crafts in a cupboard!!!!!!  Bless her!!!!

So I thought I would share some cheapish ideas with you.

I wrap my ribbon round card in a drawer, though I think I need to go to a 2nd drawer now!  The drawer comes in a set of 2 and is aimed at CD's really.

    Ribbons

    My lace is the same

    Lace

I used to have all my bottons in a big tin but spent ages looking for what I wanted.  I got some cheapy spice jars from Ikea to sort them but you could use any small jars.

    Buttons

My 12x12 papers posed a problem until the lovely Kathy on our DT said what she did with hers.  Take 2 large pizza boxes (we have very friendly pizza guys along the road hehe), stick together and slice down to look like those magazine holders you can get.  I covered mine with wrapping paper.  They look a bit scruffy now and I will need to make some more soon!

    12 by 12

Finally.........those cheapy little drawer sets are so useful for all sorts of bits & bobs!  Mine came from Ikea years ago!!!  On the right you can see cheapy magazine holders from Focus where I store my A4 card!

    Bits

BUT.....I just had to lead you off to take a look -here-!!!!  I am so in awe of this girls storage ideas!  Just take a look at her brad organiser.

    Right...off to tidy up hahahahaha

Have a great weekend, hugs, Karen XXX

Mays Kit - Memories to Treasure - by Ruth

Hello Girl Friday here..... I am looking forward to a weekend of crafting I hope you are too.

This week I have a covered notebook that would make a perfect present for a friend, a family member or to keep all for yourself!

    Picture 105

The inclusion of the Lifes Journey papers in this Kit inspired me to cover a notebook that can be used for many different occassions. I can't stress enough the exceptional quality of the chipboard embellishments that come with the kit. They are so beautiful that only one on each project is enough to make it sparkle.

    Butterfly detail

If you look closely I didn't really use that much of the kit.....making this project a credit crunch gift we would all enjoy giving and receiving!!

May 09 kit - "A Little Bit Vintage" Accordian Book - by Kathy

    Another Little Bit Vintage

This week I've been using the May BF kit to decorate a cute little Accordian Book

    Intro1

I bought a small K&Co "Exposed" accordian book from the Bubbly Funk Shop a couple of months ago and have been trying to decide how to use it ever since.

The May kit provided the perfect idea for using it and I'm really pleased with how easy it was to put together - I think this little book would be lovely filled with old family photos, or photos of favourite places and memories.

You can see how I made it, and also find out all about a Lucky Dip draw by clicking HERE

Hope you feel inspired to get that kit out and get crafting!

    Make Some Jewellery!

    Kaz-necklace

This week I thought I’d follow on from this month’s challenge, which is to make a piece of jewellery. I wanted to show you that you can make jewellery, even if you have no beads, wires or bits and bobs. You can use some of your papercrafting supplies.

So I made 2 necklaces. One anyone can make, and the other with a few bits of jewellery supplies.

You can see how I made them ~{here}~ .

I hope that this might inspire you to join in with the challenge as we love to see your creations too.
