Hello again Bubblers,
This week i have a project for you that takes the starbook i showed you how to make a few weeks ago...and adapts it into a pop~up extravaganza! { If you can't remember how to make the basic version just click this link here.}
From the outside it looks like a fairly unassuming card...but the magic happens when you open this baby up :0) Enjoy...
Ingredients:
12x12 Christmas papers and co-ordinating embellishments
Tim Holtz Distress Core'dinations cardstock in red and green
Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Sizzix die
Embossing folder like these ones here
Method:
Cut your cardstock as we did in the first book, but this time cut the middle sized pieces from the Core'dinations cardstock, run it through an embossing folder and use an emery board to sand some of the raised texture away to reveal the lighter coloured core. Take the largest sized pieces and either by drawing a shape on the back or using a cutting template cut the centre of each page away to allow room for the pop up. See below:
Assemble the pages exactly as we did before and leave the glue for 10 minutes to dry. Using the tattered floral die cut enough of the daisy shapes to make 6 large flowers. See how i've used one green daisy and a snowflake cut from cardstock to create 3 of my flowers and for the other 3, i've cut one red and one white glittery daisy and used a Petaloo florette in the middle. Assemble each of the flowers glueing them down flat and add dots with Stickles to one set, and with Glossy Accents to the other set. Leave these to dry in a warm place for 30 minutes.
While they are drying, cut out shapes and words from your pp, i've used holly shapes and phrase boxes to decorate mine. When everything is dry, cut 6 simple pop~up mechanisms from acetate. This is just a length of acetate folded with a spine and stuck into place so that it lies flat when the pages are shut. See the photo below:
Attach your flowers to the pop~ups with strong double sided tape and step back to admire your handiwork!
Finally, tie the pages up with the ribbon...and you can pop in a jiffy bag and send it to whomever you choose...mine is going all the way to New Zealand...but if you prefer...you can simply have it on the sideboard or in the middle of the dining table as a centrepiece!
I hope you've liked this project...and if the instructions are not clear...just shout!
Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting,
alixx
