Ever wished you could create your own man??? lol well i saw these chipboard gingerbread men in the shop recently...and couldn't resist making a whole army of men for myself! I've used Christmas papers as you'll see...but you could use any pp you like and you really could do a spring, summer, autumn and winter one to make yourself a man for every season! ;0)
Ingredients:
Maya Road keychain chipboard gingerbread men
Felt pen
String
paint or other colouring media
Method:
Take the little men off the keychain and keep the first man safe for another day. Then give the faces and hands a coating of Gesso to prime the surface and blast with a heat gun. Colour the faces with watered down acrylic paint {i used a mix of red and yellow with lots of water and white} and don't worry too much about this...we are not painting a portrait here! ;0) Paint the hands dark red as if they are wearing mittens.
Dress each man with pp by simply drawing around him and then cutting and gluing the jumper and the trousers. I opted for papers that reminded me of really bad *Christmas jumpers*...
Using a large tipped felt pen, draw around the man and outline his clothes. Again, no need to stress...it looks better a little *free*.
Give each of your men a slightly different hair~do. You could also add facial features if you wanted but i like them as they are so i decided to leave them as is :0)
Finally, punch a hole in the top of each man's head *ouch!* and attach a little string loop. Now all you need to do if find somewhere cute to hang them...
This is such a simple project and would be great for doing over the school holidays with the children in your life...either as an early Christmas project...or how about making a family tree?
enjoy yourselves and get messy...alix!
