Morning bubblies, welcome to another week of crafty goodness.
This week i've created an ideal Easter gift for you, which has gone down a storm with my family...and i've even done it in plenty of time for you to make a couple for your own family should you wish to :)
Ingredients:
Maya Road chipboard ~ songbird coaster
Maya Road craft doilies
Prima flower centres ~ dynasty in topaz
Viva Croco paint in gold
1 crystal gem
1m garden wire
Method:
Take the songbird coaster book and poke out the wing shape from the front cover, stencil through onto all but the last coaster and cut the shape out with a craft knife. Sand with an emery board to smooth the edges a bit. Glue all the coasters together, with the solid one at the back and coat the whole thing liberally with Viva Croco paint, leaving overnight to dry.
To create the funky tailfeathers, simply take 2 of the craft doilies and concertina fold them as shown above. Snip from between one of the petals to the middle and fan into the required shape. Use a thick tacky glue to attach this to the bird and add a Prima flower centre to the middle. I've done the same on the back of the bird which is why you need two doilies and two flower centres!
Lastly, add a gemstone for the birds' eye and twist a couple of legs from some sturdy wire. Use a pokey tool to make small holes for the legs and glue into place turning the feet out slightly to help your bird stand up :)
I hope you like him...and that you'll have a go at recreating him...i'd love to see a whole family of them on a shelf in a country kitchen...or on the Easter table...
bye for now...alix
