I have been playing with Colorwash Sprays this week and have made a tag using a little bit of a resist technique and some fab PaperArtsy Hot Picks. I wanted a slight resist look to the tag base so I used a piece of Cut & Dry foam and streaked some Traditional Tan paint onto it, leaving patches of the tag showing through. I zapped with a heatgun just to make sure that the paint was 100% dry and then used Sunset Orange and Stream Colorwash Sprays to make a lovely inky background. I saturated the tag with water whilst the Washes were still wet and used a roll of kitchen paper to stop the colours smudging together too much - it is nice to have some mixing but too much and it looks muddy. All the time I was drying with a heatgun - a must if you want to work quickly with the Colorwashes. Once it had dried, I used a piece of kitchen roll misted with water and rubbed this lightly over the tag base, removing the ink from the painted parts and revealing the resist.
I used Archival Inks and stamped a couple of Paper Artsy Hot Pick images onto the tag and then stamped a lovely sentiment. I made the flower by diecutting copy paper and then spritzing with more of the Colorwashes... the flowers were overstamped with more Hot Picks and then crumpled up to make them more dimension when they were layered together.
The ingredients used for this tag are:
Ranger Colorwash Sprays: Stream, Sunset Orange and Lettuce
Paper Artsy Hot Picks: HP1004, HPXT02, HP1005, HP1007
Archival Ink: Black, Coffee, Olive
Paper Artsy Dies: Grunge Flowers, Leaf
Idea-ology - Swivel Clasps, Charm Clip, Jump Rings
