Morning all you lovely Bubbly~types...welcome to the new week of crafting goodness :)
I'm feeling a little bit delicate after a rather marvellous Birthday party this weekend...so i've got a nice simple project for you today...bookmarks to give as gifts or keep in your current read...using the beautiful Prima Reflections rubons!
Ingredients:
Leather scraps {i got mine from a famous auction site}
2 eyelets
Garden Twine
Method:
This first one uses the large floral sprig as its main element. Having cut your strip of leather to size, apply this rubon first and add a few of the smaller butterflies around the sprig, placing the majority of the larger ones lower down to enhance the *realism*. I like my designs to spill over the edge of the bookmark...but this is not essential if you like a more *contained* look.
Cut a narrow strip of leather and add the flourish rubon {see above}, glue this into place at the bottom of the sprig and trim to fit.
Finally use a Cropadile {or similar} to set a large bronze eyelet in the top and add a little garden twine.
This second bookmark is designed to show you that this project works really well as a way to use leftover rubons too. If you don't have a large design to make an instant focal point, simply add and layer several smaller rubons to create a simple design. Notice how i've placed the leaves with one of the larger flowers to add emphasis here? Notice also that i only had 2 red butterflies...but by carefully trimming them i have managed to make it look as though i had three! Clever, huh? ;)
Once your design is complete, simply add an eyelet and some twine as before.
Thats it from me for today...hope you like this idea and will give it a go this week,
alix
