Instructions
First we need to make the album. Use the template (View this photo)
I have provided or make your own. Once you have your template, trace it 4 times onto some fabric. I used canvas but you can use any kind of fabric. If you use a patterned fabric, remember to reverse two of them so the right side is showing on all sides.
Next, take the house that will be the front and cut out a few windows.
Next paint all 4 houses in your chosen colour. I went for plain white.
Once dry add some of the studio calico paper behind the windows. Using a sewing machine, sew around all the windows.
The album I have made is padded so we need to add wadding. Cover two houses in spray glue or adhesive and lay onto the wadding. Trim the excess. Spray the remaining two houses with more adhesive and attach to the wadding, like a sandwich.
Next using a sewing machine, sew around all the edges. At this stage I did some fancy sewing down the roof as well. Trim off excess wadding/ edges.
Next I decided to have a go at glimmer misting. I used tattered angels in a red and a blue plus some tattered angel’s fancy ornate masks but you can use other mists or make your own from distress re inkers. I placed a mask over the roof area and the bottom left. I did both the front and back covers, inside as well. Dry with a heat gun if inpatient likes me. Once dry doodle around the masked out area with a black pen. Whilst you are misting, change the colour of some silk flowers to match as well.
Punch two holes on the left with a big bite or cropodile.
I arranged a medley of silk and paper flowers around the edge of the house, added some journaling tags and my title and finished off with some buttons
For the pages I had two different sizes. The vertical pages measure 4” wide x 5” high. The horizontal pages measure 5.5” wide by 4” high. The pages are made from a selection of CS from the kit and the home front pages. Each page has a home front tag attached as a page turner.
Embellish with flower and buttons. I also glimmer misted on random pages as well to tie in with the front and back covers. Use the
And there you go. A fabric house album to document all the things you love about your home or tell the story of special family times.
I would love to see what you come up with and your fabric albums
