I began by cutting the rub-on design I wanted to use away from the rest of the sheet - this means I won't accidentally rub-off designs that i'm not ready to use yet while working on this one.
I then layed the rub-ons on to different scraps of patterned paper,
and some torn book paper,
and after adhering them, cut around each one.
I then inked and distressed the edges with a small scissors, and curled the petals around a pencil to give them shape.
I assembled the two layers of my flowers using some 3D foam and pressing a crystal brad straight through them all.
I then added them to my awaiting card.I'm mainly a scrapbooker, but I love the fact that making cards lets me use up all the beautiful scraps of paper that otherwise would go in the bin (or, more likely in my case, clutter up my house for ever more!!). Both the cards in this article were made totally from scraps I salvaged from my "scraps box" :)
To make the rub-ons go even further, I found it useful to cut some of the designs into two, as shown below. I cut the outer line to use on the pink paper, and used the inner part of the design on the blue spotted paper. My second card is completely different in style, but uses the same pack of rub-ons.
On this design I placed a strip of patterned paper inside the card to show through the scalloped strip when the card is closed.
I hope you give it a go, it's a quick and easy way to make your own custom flower embellishments for any project :)
