I had a 50th birthday at the end of last year and didn't have a clue what to get, so I decided to make a 50th canvas!
This started life as a plain canvas, approx. 8" x 11".
Using a couple of Tando Creative stencils - Diamond Circles and Stripes - and some texture paste (I used Viva Decor Terra) I created a random pattern for the background of the design.
I deliberately used a darker texture colour so that it would stand out a little under the coats of paint.
I gradually added layers of chipboard cogs around a number '50' and painted the whole piece with white paint.
I was in two minds whether to stop at this point because I quite liked it all white, but decided to do an black to grey ombre effect.
I glittered the number '50'...just to emphasise the fact!
This turned out brilliantly, Caroline, it looks fab

Fab canvas Caroline, the texture paste makes a great start for the texture of the chipboard shape layers!
